You don’t want to wait until you grow old to look back and wish that you had made more of an effort to enjoy life, do you? Take charge now and live life to the fullest with these fifteen simple tips.
How To Enjoy Life
Be Healthy
Take good care of your body because it’s the only one you get. Exercise regularly, eat well and get a good night’s sleep. These three things can go a long way to contributing to the health of your body. No-one enjoys being sick.
Take Breaks
You’re a busy person, I get it. But, when you are constantly on the go, you are more prone to being tired and stressed which can ultimately lead to illness. Remember to take frequent breaks and have some downtime to rest your body and mind. Curl up in a comfy chair and read your favourite book or treat yourself to a spa day at home. However you choose to relax and relieve stress, just do it!
Plan Your Time
If you find it difficult to get everything you need or want to accomplish done, start planning your time. Make sure you schedule downtime and vacations as well. Time blocking is a great technique (that I use) to help plan my day.
Having a plan always makes life more straightforward because you can see exactly what you need to do and follow through.
Set Goals
Setting goals is the easiest way to be successful. You are more likely to accomplish what you want out of life when you write goals down. Weekly, monthly, or however often you prefer, check in with your goals and see what you have accomplished. Seeing your progress will be extremely satisfying.
Find Balance
All work and no play makes you a dull person. Not only that, you will be tired, stressed and unhappy. Sure you might be lucky enough to have a job you thoroughly enjoy but you still need balance.
As an entrepreneur, I fully understand the battle. I work full-time and then come home and still have personal projects to execute. It can be a struggle to shut down my computer and switch off the business side. Having a schedule definitely helps with this.
Find a happy medium between work and play. I’m certain your family will be thrilled to spend more time with you too!
Make Changes
If there is something preventing you from being able to enjoy life, change it. Don’t just complain about what you don’t like. Actively work toward living the life you desire.
Do What You Love
If there’s a dream job you have always wanted or a hobby that makes you really happy, find a way to do it. You will enjoy life a lot more if you follow your passions and do what you love.
Don’t Be Afraid To Fail
Try new things! If you fail, learn from the experience and use it to grow. The only way to avoid failure is to never try anything at all.
Smell The Roses
Take a moment to appreciate the little things in life— a sunset, some pretty flowers, the sound of your child’s laugh. It’s these things that can really brighten even the darkest moments.
Value What You Have
Sometimes we spend so much time thinking about other people’s lives that we don’t see all that we have to be grateful for in our own. Don’t fall into the trap of being jealous of others because people hide what they are ashamed of. They may be close to losing their homes, yet they dress in expensive clothing. You don’t know what is happening behind closed doors.
Jealousy is also a sign that you are not fulfilled so remind yourself that you do have great things going on. Spend a few minutes daily writing at least one thing in your life that your are grateful for.
Say No
You can’t truly enjoy life if you aim to please everyone else. You will run yourself ragged trying and, in the end, someone will still be disappointed. Think about your priorities and learn to say no to others when their needs conflict with your plans or goals. Being selfish has gotten a bad rap but it can be good for you on occasion.
Weed Your “Friends Garden”
Weed out the people who have a negative impact on your life. We all have that one friend who never has a nice thing to say when you see them or only calls when they want something from you. You don’t need those people putting a damper on the positive atmosphere you try to create for yourself so stay away from them as much as possible.
Plan For The Future
It’s important to make smart choices like creating an emergency fund to avoid stress when unforeseen circumstances crop up and planning for retirement. Doing this can be incredibly beneficial in the long run so you can enjoy life later. However, while you are planning for the future, don’t sacrifice the present. Just because you are on a budget doesn’t mean you have to stop living.

Spend Time With Loved Ones
Enjoy time with your family and friends frequently and give them all the love that you can. Too often, relationships are ruined by trivial differences. Learn to forgive and forget and cherish the special people in your life.
Be Present
Shut down social media and live in the moment with the people surrounding you, not just the fictional lives that strangers present online.
Put that cell phone away! I have been to restaurants and seen couples spend the entire time there each on their cell phones—no conversation, no interaction. Unless they are speaking to each other via the phone (which would just be silly, but to each their own…), what’s the point in being there?
Time reverses for no-one and you don’t want to find yourself saying “Shoulda, woulda, coulda”. Live life to the fullest and enjoy every moment that you can!
