Why does it always seem so difficult to get ready fast in the morning and not end up wearing sweat pants? Sometimes, I swear the clock is set to fast-forward. Time flies by and in an act of desperation, you just throw on whatever comes to hand.
Then, the inevitable happens. You run into that one friend who always looks fabulous.
Great…

The next time you step out of your home, you’ll have your head held high and feel every bit as good as you look.
Get Ready Fast And Look Amazing
“Hair” Me Out
There is nothing worse than waking up with a few minutes to get through the door and having to wrangle unruly hair into submission. Let’s face it. Not all of us were born with hair that cooperates and sits perfectly in place.
My suggestion is the next time you go to the hair salon, ask for an easy hair style or hair cut.
You probably cringed at the word “cut” but shorter hair styles are much easier to manage. I can personally vouch for that. Several years ago, I cut my hair and I absolutely love it. Washing and drying it takes no time at all and I don’t have to style it.
Let me tell you a well-kept secret:
Hair grows back!
If you don’t want the short look anymore, simply grow your hair out again.
Makeup
Just because you want to get ready fast does not mean you need to skip wearing makeup. Simply, keep your makeup routine as minimal as possible. The less items you add to your everyday routine, the better. You just need to freshen your face up a bit.
Find your absolute must-have products and pack away, or get rid of, all the others. Avoid using makeup that is more than one year old as it can cause breakouts. Keep your go-to items organized in an easily accessible place and store any products that will be used occasionally, elsewhere. Rummaging through products you’re not even using takes extra time.
Be sure to put your makeup back where it belongs when you’re done. The next time you need it, you will know exactly where it is.
Capsule wardrobe
Have you ever heard of a capsule wardrobe? It’s a collection of a few staple pieces of clothing in coordinating colours that can be expanded with seasonal or trendy items.
The idea is that you can mix and match all of your outfits and still have them look amazing together. One tip is to start with basics in neutral colours and then, add a few other colours and patterns that complement each other.
It may seem difficult to pare down your wardrobe to just a few key items but how many of us really wear everything in our closets anyway?
You probably have clothes that you wear all the time because you look great in them and they make you feel good. So, select some essentials and add those pieces that you love to the collection.
By the time you’re done, you’ll have a wardrobe consisting of clothes you actually enjoy wearing. Picking an outfit will become a breeze because you won’t be sifting through items you don’t like anymore.
Remember to include handbags and shoes into your capsule wardrobe too. Stick to neutral hues that go with anything.
Go Back To Basics
It can be baffling how great a white shirt looks with just about everything. Pair a white button-down with black trousers and heels or that same shirt with skinny jeans and sandals. I guarantee you’ll look good either way.
A basic wardrobe will stand the test of time. Clothing like t-shirts, jeans and trousers are all great components of a basic wardrobe.
Purchase good quality items that flatter your shape and choose fabrics that are easy to care for e.g. wool and cotton. Avoid clothing that requires dry cleaning and ironing. These are items that you will wear often and you can get ready fast knowing that you will never be out of style.
Change It Up With Accessories
Just because you have a basic wardrobe doesn’t mean it has to be boring. Jazz it up with accessories. Jewelry, scarves, belts and even hats can add pizzazz to any outfit. They are also great ways to add pops of colour and personality to your style.
Remember to keep it simple, though. A statement necklace paired with a plain t-shirt and jeans can have a lot of impact. Accessories complete and polish your look.
Layer Up
Layers can hide a multitude of sins and boost your confidence. Wear a camisole under a top that’s a bit revealing or throw on a jacket to hide a stained shirt (a perfect fix when you have kids or you were a bit messy at lunch).
Just like accessories, layers are great for adding colour to an outfit and they can be quite useful in cooler climates. If it gets too hot, simply remove the outer layer.
Have A Plan
Don’t you just hate struggling to select an outfit when you’re in a rush? Often, you end up picking items you wear all the time or something you don’t truly love.
Solution?
Choose your clothes and lay them out the night before. This way you can take your time and ensure that the clothing is clean, ironed and any necessary repairs are made. (How many times have you put on a blouse, only to realize it’s missing a button?)
Make sure you plan what accessories, shoes and bag you will include as well. That way you can ensure your bag is packed and everything is at hand the next day.
Nail It
You’re out and about, getting on with your day and you feel great. Then, you look down at your hands…
Do not underestimate how much chipped nail polish and ragged cuticles detract from a polished look. I don’t wear nail polish much these days as I prefer my natural nails but I am quite guilty of not tending to my cuticles.
You don’t need to have a full mani-pedi to look amazing but make sure your nails are clean and shaped. Moisturize your hands often especially in winter and try buffing your nails. This is a simple and quick way to make sure your hands always look their best.
Following these tips will add a bit of panache to your everyday style. You’ll be able to get ready and look amazing in hardly any time at all.
